THI

Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI), Institute of new Energy Systems (InES)

Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) is a public university of applied sciences located in Ingolstadt, Bavaria. With a strong focus on technology and business, THI has over 7,000 students and more than 200 professors. Within the THI, the Institute of new Energy Systems (InES), consisting of six professors and more than 30 researchers, has been active in the field of renewable energies and next generation energy systems for about two decades. A key area of expertise is the characterisation and optimisation of energy systems. The Institute has extensive experience from numerous projects dedicated to the advancement of system technologies, the integration of storage solutions and the development of District Heating and Cooling (DHC) systems, as well as strong expertise in the computer-based characterisation and simulation of supply systems.

INTERSTORES Project role

The main role of THI is the scientific analysis and support of the integration of the renovated seasonal storage into the energy system at IN-Campus.  Technical and operation control topics will be investigated within measurements and simulations. Guidlines (e.g. handbook) for an optimal seasonal storage integration and operation under different technical and economic boundary conditions including benchmarking scenarios will be created to ensure the transferability of the project’s results.
