INTERSTORES Project role
VTT will utilise energy system modelling (Backbone modelling framework) for evaluating performance within regional district heating system simulations with VECTES, including interaction with the surrounding Nordic energy system. VTT will also study optimal material choices for concrete- and metal-based devices of the high-temperature conditions of the Giga-sTES. Although with VTT’s main focus on VECTES, future European future market and transfer potential with respect to generalisable characteristics is assessed. VTT is also involved in work related to validation of the digital process twin of VECTES. VTT will lead national stakeholders’ engagement activities.
